Mike..I have a 2000 nightrain and my parts manual list the rear fenders for the fatboy, heritage, and bobtail fenders all fit the factory struts for that model year. I think it would be a safe bet that you can swap out fenders with no problems on your 03, as long as the fender you use is an 03...might have some difficulties if you were going to a deuce fender...did they make an 03 deuce? good luck and I hope this helps

00-06 softails are all the same fender for the rear of the fatboy, deluxe and heritage. they should all work fine. The Deluxe and heritage rear fenders are dimpled for the rturn signal bars.

Mike I'm doing the same thing right now.. have an 02 standard, and got an 04 fatboy fender and it fits like a charm. I'm filling the light and plate holes to smooth it, then gonna run a toombstone tail light with license plate off to the side.

Check out my 'transformation' thread it has a bunch of pics... about to upload a few new ones in a bit.

I've changed mine to a deluxe fender... The fender supports that hold your tailight will need to be cut if you reuse them (thats what I did) or you could find a fatboy, deluxe, and so on and use there support brackets. As far as fitting I don't see a problem but before paint I would still do a mock up just to be safe. Good luck!
