I have the 08 and have the issue. Tightening helps. Like Coyote, I had them slip about 6 inches when it first happened - aint fun looking in the mirror and seeing pavement. Dealer tightened them to spec...but everytime i hit an unexpected bump they pull back a little. Keep thinking maybe i put too much backward pressure on the bars when i reide...

08 with 23k miles and never so much as a budge. Even after I had to remove them once to install my windshield mount and after the dealer removed them twice to do some warranty work on the neck bearings. Wish I could offer and advice.

Default Handlebar moving

This sounds really strange, mine have been off and on, at no point did I consider that handlebars could or would move, as the consequences don't bear thinking about.

To the OP, you should insist that they replace the bars too, that way they have done everything within the 'manual' possible to fix the problem.

Beyond that it is pinning / machine shop work and they probably don't want to go there

I know they should fix it themselves, but what about the old school trick?

Step one: Drink a beer
Step two: Cut a small piece of the can to place between riser and handlebar
Step three: Drink another beer and relax after your hard work

Not trying to be a smart @ss, but clearly your dealer doesn't want to hear about your problem you need a simple solution.

NOTE: a soda can won't work; it has to be a American beer can. Ok, now that was smart @***

I had to clean the powder coating out off the grooves after the dealership couldn't figure it out. I hit a storm drain in the middle of the road and they wound up almost in my lap. The bars do have rubber bushing so they will move "a little". You should not worry about too much pressure on them when you ride, what happens if you need to make a high speed swerve or pull yourself up off the seat quickly? how much pressure will be on them then?

Anyone got the HD pt # for this piece of tin thats you put in to stop the bar moving on your brand new bike What a load of .. They should'nt move even if your pushing your 700+lb of iron up a steep hill and if they do get the dealer to fix it..let them snap bolts and have the headache while your wating in the showroom If the problems cos the bars are'nt knurled..let them get you a set that is and let them change them out.

Put some set screws in the risers with a drill, tap and a few screws.
