Default Longer Strut Bolts

I purchased a cutom sissybar from Twisted Steel and I am wondering if I should get longer bolts to mount them with. The mounting bracket is thin, that's why I'm wondering if I just re-apply locktight I could use them. Anybody come across this?

when I have done it in the past I reused the existing bolts....and used Loctite
but I did make sure all of the threads were engaged...

make sure the length of bolt in the hole equals the diameter of the bolt. any more is wasted and won't hold any better. +1 on the lock-tite.

Either use your existing strut bolts with blue loctite (if they are still long enough to get a few threads started) or get the appropriate Rigid Sideplate Hardware Kit from MOCO. Not real expensive, and will do the trick.

I'm curious as to what you paid for your sissy bar from Twisted Steel. He makes real good looking custom sissy bars, but pricey. If you don't want to post it here, just shoot me an email if you don't mind my asking. Personally, I'm looking at what he's got in the 14 to 24 inch range.

I paid $360 for it with shipping. He made it with the bracket. You can see mine on his website, it says made for FatBoy Lo. It looks awesome on the bike.
