Is this the same regardless of gear (i.e. can you start it in 2nd-6th with clutch pulled)?
You did not mention any other changes. Did you by chance change your levers?
There is a button/switch inside the clutch lever housing. It prevents the bike from being started in gear without the clutch pulled. Want to say they added that in 2007.
Anyway, that's the first place I'd look. New levers might not have the nub that makes contact with the switch. If you did not change the levers, its possible the switch itself has failed. Less likely (since you didn't report any other electrical issues) is a bad fuse but worth a look if the other two suggestions don't get you to the root cause.
