Thanks guys. I suspected the dealer was at least $100 more on the pipes and they dont look that difficult to put on.

Maybe Ill treat myself to some V&H Big radius pipes and then get the bike tuned afterwards.

Yeah I like the big radius. Black or Chrome?

Black seems to be all the rage at the moment

Almost all pipes will blue at some point, the manufacturers just got smart and started covering them with full coverage heat shields.

I'm partial to RB Racing, but you can do the install yourself. Very straightforward. Good Luck.

Why does your dealer want $399 for the air cleaner? My book lists the most expensive as $299?

Don't recommend the black pipes, if you want to keep them nice. Mine started rusting less than a year after I put them on. I have my stock pipes back on for now, but I'm going to go with a 2-1 (in chrome) because I want a bit more torque and less noise. If you're all about style, though, and don't care that everybody else has the same thing, get the chrome Big Radius 2-2s. They're plenty loud, for sure.

You will also want to get a tuner or an aftermarket ECM before long, if you're not rockin one already..

I went with the V&H big radius 2 into 2, Fuel moto SE air set up with K&N air filter and a Fuel Moto Power commander-5. I had fuel moto map the pc-5 and never had a problem. Call Fuel moto and see what they recommend but get the tune done.
Do all the work yourself, it's a one to two hour job. It is simple and the dealer will charge you way to much. As far as pipes contact DR V-Twin on here or look in the classifieds section as there are always pipes there.

I've got an 04 Fatboy that had Reinhart shorts on it when I bought it a few months ago. I found some stock Fatboy headers and then put on a set of Rush slipons. The slipons sell for $315 and sound very good. Stock headers should be readily available.
