Default Bigger Tire On stock Fatboy wheel?

Is it possible?... Has anyone put a larger(wider) tire on a stock Fatboy rim? If there's one out there I'd like to see some pics just to see what it looks like. ...Thanks

I have been told by more than one shop that a 150 is as wide as you can go on a 3.00" wheel. I wanted to install a 160 on my bike and was told it wouldn't fit a 3 inch rim, needed a 3.5 inch wheel.

210 will fit stock rim and no rubbing. Its a tight fit, not sure you could get anything wider in there.

I put a 160 on my 3" rim, but I was also told by a Metzeler tech that they didn't recommend to go that wide.

Putting anything wider than a 150 on a 3" rim runs the risk of having a tire sidewall failure... taking corners with a wider tire that has been mounted on a narrow rim rolls the tire over onto the sidewall. Over time sidewall fatigue will end with failure when you least expect it.

I run a 160 on my stock rim and have never had a problem at all! It seems anything bigger and you will need a wider fender, but have not looked into it.

A 160 what brand... take some calipers and actually measure it... Metzlers run small as do some others.
