Default Module on air cleaner backing plate ?

2011 Sotail Deluxe. I've got a new AC kit comming so i thought i'd remove the stock one cause it's snowing and i got nothing else to do. As I pull off the backing plate, a little connecter module falls out..seemed to be mounted to the plate by a push pin. Doesn't actually go in the AC it appears, just mounted there. Anyone seen this? Looks to me like i can just wire tie it up out of the way somewhere..Any ideas what I'm dealing with ? Thanks

It's for European models. Zip tie it out of the way.

European ? No wonder my shifter is on the right side :-) Wire tie sounds good to me. It just loops around from wire bundle to wire bundle. Stupid place to mount something. Thanks

Same here...I've got an 2010 FLSTFB...same connector just dangling there....but I noticed it dangling there on two other FLSTFBs in the stealership showroom. I figured its probably some sort of diagnostic port...I zip tied it.

Yeah, that's what it looks like, A DP connection. Has a push-pin type nipple on it and you can see a small hole on the back bottom of the AC where it pushes into..first I thougt is was a sensor till i got a light to it..You can see the hole doesn't go thru into the AC. I should buy a Shop manual one of these days..

Guess i just should have waited till the AC kit came today..It's a V&H Naked VO2 and it mentioned it in the instructions (didn't say what it was though) and actually had a tab on the backing plate to plug it back into. Sure didn't expect that much design detail...

I installed a similar naked Arlen Ness intake. Google "Azetec" ... I think that's how they spell it..... They make pie plate covers for the naked a/c's. If you have the hold screw hole in the center....the 5 1/2 in SE pieplate works. Azetec sells them at very low cost compared to others. I was gonna make one .. I have 3/16 AL plate in my scrap bin... but making a true circle, chamfering, drilling and powder coating for $40.00 is unbeatable.

IMHO it look better them putting the football back on..plus...the football makes the bike pull in hotter air near the jug fins ... although that is probably negligible ... but in FL summer I want it gulping cooler air at idle if possible. If you want to see a pic post back.

Cheers

I just tucked mine back because it isn't long enough to bother anything.
