'02 Heritage vs '06 Deluxe

I looked at both today.
The heritage is not fuel injected. His son is listing it for him and made a mistake. It is in really good shape with some sort of LOUD pipes (I did not recognize them and he did not remember what they were). He has all the receipts for service. It is in excellent condition with some extras. Original owner. Original tires, but they seem to be in good shape and have been stored inside always. Ran great and I could find no problems, except for the colored led lights he has mounted under the seat and tank, lol.
I am contemplating an offer of $8000. He said he was offered that amount from a local dealership. He has no other real bites on the bike, but is in no hurry to sell.
The Deluxe has V&H Bigshots, a few extra chrome doo dads, windshield, touring rear seat, and a few other extras. There is a scratch on the R side of the tank, but I think it will buff out and is not that bad. There is a bit of rust on the bracket for the saddlebags. It is a beautiful bike and has more potential (to me) than the heritage.
He told me that his bottom dollar was $9300, but also stated he needs to sell and needs the money.

The pipes are probably old style "Competition Use" Screamin Eagles. They were very popular then and way to loud for a Heritage, lots of other options are availalbe. He most likely has a stage I air filter.
So 9300+ for the Deluxe or 8000+ for the Heritage...
Get the blue one.

In my opinion, You are making the right choice... If you personally like the Deluxe model better. I think that is a GREAT price! I just bought a 07' Deluxe for $10,800 a w/13,00 mi.
and I thought I got a real good deal, I just paid $400. on Ebay for those deluxe bags (used) those rusty saddlebag brackets can be removed.... mine dosen't have any and seem very secure, just bolted to the fender struts, (they don't hold all that much anyway)

Here are the pics from the ad. The bike comes with the touring passenger seat, sissy bar, rack, and the sissy bar bags shown in the picture.

The Deluxe has a couple minor issues too - mainly the scratch in the tank that should buff out since it is not very deep, and it needs cleaned up since it was parked all winter. Overall, it was a better deal. I am paying almost $6000 less than my bank booked it for.
I will eventually lose the deluxe bags and replace them with hard bags or another leather bag. I am not sure yet what I want the final result to be, but the Cali build is not my thing. I will surely find lots of good ideas if I hang around here long enough. Part of the allure of this bike over the Heritage was that I felt the Deluxe had more opportunity to make it my own.
