Default Is this a good deal?

OK, so I don't belong on this forum (yet) but I have my heart set on a Deluxe and my dealer showed me one yesterday and I fell in love with it. It is an '06 with only 260 miles on it. The guy that had it bought it new from my dealer and found out not long after that he had cancer. He kept it as long as he could, but just can't ride it anymore.

So here goes,

'06 Deluxe
260 miles
Green metallic and black two-tone (not sure of the exact color name)
stock seat
saddle bags
new tires

asking around $17,000

Is this a good deal? I am not sure what to think since it is 2 years old, but so little miles, so I need some input for those of you who know.

Also, how much different will it be going from my Sporty to the Deluxe?

Thanks in advance for all your help! -Christine

Here are pics of it (hope they look ok, they are camera phone pics)

I'm not a Deluxe expert,
but I would think going from a Sporty to a Deluxe would be awsome move for ya.

It also looks like it has different mufflers than stock.
They look like some slip ons of some kind.....and they look really good.
I like the slash down ends they have.

You will probaly start a big arguement here because
the 06 has the 88 cubic inch motor and 5 speed
and an 07 or 08 has the 96 motor and 6 speed trany.
I'm not sure what else is different.

Base price on a new Deluxe is $17,445.00, saddle bags not included. There is a noticeable difference between the 88cu and 96cu motors. If it were me, I'd pay a bit more and look at an 08. JMHO.

Offer $15,000 + tax out the door. That would be a fair deal.
Beautiful bike.

I agree that is a little high even with the low miles. The used bike market has taken a big hit the past few years and are not selling for what they did 4 or 5 years ago. I had a sporty back in the day and the softails are superior in almost every way and also easier to ride IMO. You will absolutely love it! Good luck.

Have them show you high and low blue book prices. Or look it up online yourself. You will be suprised. They are certainly way over priced, considering you will pay tax and lic. on top of the 17k. A year and a half ago, this might have been attractive pricing, but in today's economy, I think this dealer should re-think the price. Have them throw in 7 yr. extended warranty and offer them the 15k. There are plenty of good deals out there right now. People are hurting and the first to go are luxury items.

I aggree with others. Offer 15K otd with a an extended warrenty. I have seen 07 and 08 's used listed for 17K here in CA. I would figure the bags are worth little to no value. You will likely want to change them anyway. They hold very little. They probably only paid 12K for it.

I paid 16,750 out the door for a Vivid Black 07' Deluxe last july. He (seller)has about $14-1500.00 worth of options visible in the picture. (windshield, bags, and slipons) Options aren't worth much on resale, unless it's something you really like, or are going to add anyway. A friend of mine bought an '05 Deluxe, with the same options as the one you are looking at exept his is red. He paid 13.5, and his bike had 3000 miles on it. I would say 14,500 to 15,500, and good luck!

I agree with Marsh and others, $15,000 is a fair price and IMO $17,000 is way to high. I went from an 883L to the Deluxe and love my O6 Deluxe, it rides like butter and you're gonna love it. Enjoy your new ride!
