Default S&S Super vs. SE Stage I Air Filter Assembly

I recently switched my air cleaner assembly (backplate, hoses, filter and cover) from the Screaming Eagle Stage I to an S&S (teardrop shape). My EFI was remapped when I upgraded to the SE Stage I, and my mechanic said it wouldn't need to be changed when I switched to the S&S. However, I notice a real change in power. I think the S&S is not as free flowing as the SE. Seems like it's running richer maybe. The throttle seems more like it's attached to a big rubber band as the motor catches up. Before it was much more direct.

Anyone else make the switch and notice this? I'm thinking I'll remap for my S&S and see if it makes a difference. I really like the looks of the S&S and I was thinking it was more comparable than it seems now.
