throttle cable removal help

throttle cable removal help
97 heritage- replacing throttle and idle cable got it apart and can't get the cables off the throttle housing. Service manual say a little oil and a rocking motion will help but after an hour all ive managed to do is pull the crimped aluminium off . Is there some kind of trick I'm missing? Is there a way to remove to clip holding it in the housing ? looks like the cable is rusted to the housing.
