Default Throttle Cable Adjustment?

My brother has an 07 UC and the throttle grip has too much play, but it is adjusted as tight as it will go. It only has 19,000 miles. Does the cable need replacing or what? Thanks in advance!!!

Is it adjusted properly at the throttle body? I would remove the ac and start there. The Service manual shows how to adjust from that point.

Not sure what you are saying but there are two cables. One to pull throttle open and the other closes it. (same on outboards) Thats a safety thing and you need manual to adjust correctly. Do not screw with unless you understand how per correct manual since it's easy to hose it and make it dangerious. if you are refering to Harley sloppy in and out play on the grip. Ridding down road say at 45 on a bumpy road and filling throttle grip bump in and out, that is pretty much how they are. So as to work at -30 degrees to 130 degrees, dirty and clean, sorta like an army 45 auto pistol. They work but fill quite like crap . just ignore that part. if you are talking about the two cable system (no throttle by wire) anD FI, I CAN POST SOME INFO TO CHECK IT OUT AND ADJUST IT. LET ME KNOW SOME MORE DETAIL ON HERE AND I WILL PUT IT ON HERE....

Also cables can stretch and if its 12 years old I wouldn't think replacing them might not be a bad idea.

Had the push pull cable system info posted here but post 8 says it's not that system so I took it back off so as not to confuse.
Sorry, see post 8 for correct procedure to fix.

TBW Ripsaw?? There are no cables at all to adjust. An 07 couldn't be TBW anyway, that didn't appear till 08.

Not that I have had a problem myself, but I rather be asking the throttle cable question than questions about "limp mode". I've read enough comments that it worries me! Dayum!!!

The '07 has a throttle and an idle cable. All cable adjustments are made at the ends near the switch housing. I don't believe there is any adjustment to be made at the throttle body. There is a spring at the throttle body that returns the throttle to idle. The idle cable seems to serve only as a safety device and does not return the throttle to idle on its on.

The excessive throttle play mentioned may be the result of a stretched throttle cable. Any adjustment for it is not mentioned in the service manual. I would like to hear of a solution if there is one.
