Got the Boss Bags stiffener/locking kit a couple years ago and have been very happy with it.

Hasn't happened yet, but If I have to, I can just leave the foam in a trash can somewhere. I'm not using plastic peanuts, so it's easy to jerk out if need be. And, the bags hold their shape good with the foam rubber. I bought a bag if 1" flat foam at Hobby Lobby or Wal-Mart, and just rolled up enough to fit down into the bag.

As they age ... all bags sag. DOESN'T HELP IF YOU YELL! You can buy inserts....Google baggy bags ... I know of at least one vendor who makes rigid inserts.

Just bought a 2011 Heritage myself, the 2011 "bags" already have a stiff piece of plastic sewn into the top of the bag. "new" for 2011. FYI Enjoy the ride1

Or.....you can just take care of the bags you have now. My Heritage is a year old next month and the bags look as good as new.

The biggest enemy of your bags is water. Leather and water just don't like each other. I take my bags off whenever I wash it. I try not to ride in the rain but if I get caught in it, I treat the leather with a good conditioner.

The sun is also an enemy but if you treat the bags with an occasional quality leather conditioner, it won't be a problem.

The conditioner is critical as it keeps the leather from drying out, which results in mis-shapen and fading out bags

My '09 had bags that looked like they got wet from previous owner. Before I went to look at the bike. the dealer had put in a Saggy Bags kit. They look pretty good now.

I have a 99 Heritage and my bags are as straight as new. The inserts were already in them when I bought it, but they work great!
