LED turn signal issue
I have a 2004 Softail Deuce. I just put the Custom Dynamics kit turn signal insert kit on it. Amber in front, red in the back. The kit came with a Street Magic Slim Line load equalizer and a Street Magic "Triple Play" which converts the back 2 turn signals into brake lights. Anyway I installed everything according to the directions. It's pretty hard to mess up because it all just clicks into place. I tested it out, and all was well. Everything was bright, and the signals were flashing at the proper speed.
I got about 15 miles from my house when the red security key on my speedometer lit up. I thought it was weird, but the signals were working well and I figured it was something to look up when I got home. About 30 miles from home, I smelled burning rubber and plastic (the distinctive smell of an electrical fire). I pulled over, shut it down, and pulled the seat off. No smoke or flames thankfully. I looked at the load equalizer and it was melted. The triple-play was slightly melted but not nearly as much as the load equalizer. I pulled the load equalizer out of the mix, and tried to use the triple-play, but it was dead. So I have pulled both out and am dealing with fast blinkers and a red security key. I will call Custom Dynamics on Monday and try to sort it out. Has anyone heard of this happening or does anyone know why it would happen. Just to be clear, I DID NOT use my 4 way flashers at all.
Is there any harm in using the blinkers in fast mode until I get this sorted out or should I revert back to the old style bulbs?

I just did this to my Deuce a month ago. Mine would blink fast all the time no matter what I did. I called Custom Dynamics and the customer service was awesome. Went over a few things with a guy on the phone and he determined the load equalizer was bad. Sent a new one out and works like a charm. Give them a call and tell them what happened, they will figure it out. My key light comes on for a couple of seconds at startup but then goes out in a couple of seconds. The first load equalizer I had it would stay lit up. I'd bet it's just a bad load equalizer. Is your seat touching it?

I had it tucked near the battery away from the seat. It sounds like I just got a defective unit which possibly just fried the triple play. I don't know how I would reverse polarity because it just plugs right into the factory wiring harness. That's what I just wanted to see if I messed up somehow or if it was possible to have a bad part. I will call them on Monday. I have heard good things and I'm sure they will make it right.
Just following up on this. I emailed Custom Dynamics over the weekend. They responded on a Sunday. Today I received a phone call and talked about the issue. They are sending me new parts at no charge. From speaking to them, it sounds like I just got a bad load equalizer. That's great customer service. Things happen and I can't blame them for a faulty part, but I'm glad they're willing to make it right.

CD has it going on in the service dept. I emailed both them and Radiantz about a set of those LEDs and asked what I would need to make it all work on my bike. CD responded within the hour. It's been a about a month, now; I ordered from CD and all items have been delivered. Never did hear from Radiantz.
I installed the same setup on my Train a couple of months ago. The first kit came with a bad load equalizer. Custom Dynamics sent me a new one out right away. Looks like they have run into a bad batch.
