Ape Install Tutorial - 16" RSD apes on a 2011 FatBoyLo
bro... now that you mention it... that's a good idea.. really wanting those tw-555 cams.... why don't you get right on that and be the guinea pig? lol....
Didn't get home until late last night so didn't really have much time to work on it..
Started to put my exhaust back on but needed to replace one of the clamps on my heat shield... I thought I had an extra one, but it was too small.. so I just did some cleanup... there was a lot of oil on my tranny cover from handling it so I cleaned it and other places that you can't really get to with the pipes on.. checked my brakes again after sitting for 24 hours and I think they are actually better than before I started this whole process.. so manual bleeding is definitely the way to go..

It sounds you are making progress. I have never had a grip with a set screw come off no matter how hard I tug on it. Thanks so much for your business and learning is the fun part. Sharing your experience with the rest of us is priceless as numerous people will benefit from this posting. I find the fact that the bars are too long on the grip portion to the be the strangest thing of all. I would think they would be perfect at the price they get for them.
With apes you can gravity bleed the front brake really easily.

As far as the brakes go, they are excellent now.. feels better than before I started all this..
Fantastic write up with all the pictures. Thanks bunches for taking time to detail all of this; since I'm wanting apes myself this post will help me a lot. Thanks again and great looking bike.....the apes look a lot better than the previous bars.
It's a different story on my Kury grips. The left one gets glued on and last week it busted loose while i was riding. I have to reglue it. This si teh first time I have ever had grips that are not held on with a set screw. Oh well.

Bwahahahahaha.....
atta boy rambo, my mistake was putting the novello extension kit on 1st then trying to go through bars BIG MISTAKE, i cant believe you got the plugs through ! the 1st pic of the plugs look like they would never make it.congrats
Great write-up. Thanks for taking the effort to do this. As Aj said, you are helping us all out with this. I learned a lot from your work. It is nice to hear the real-world side of things even when you have a service manual. :-)
