Default 2012 Soft tails

Looking at new bikes for my wife and learned this past weekend that not only are the 2012 touring bikes getting the 103 engine but in fact all 2012 Soft Tails are also getting the 103.. Might be a consideration for some looking for a new bike.

I think it comes down to the price of a 2011 vs. 2012 with the 103. If the same price then it's a no brainer. But if the difference is large enough, you can get the 2011 and upgrade to a 103 for less money and make more power, might even be able to get the dealership to do it for you and keep the warranty.

I would think the only thing of use you are getting is the bigger cans. You will still want different cams and higher compression pistons along w better breathing heads, tuner, air filter and exhaust...

Does anyone know if the 103 will be an option as it is on the 2011 Touring models or will it be the new standard and the 96 is gone?

Based on the EPA charts released it looks like the 103s are specd as standard.

I heard rumor that the Dynas are also getting the 103 stock and standard on all models.

Based on those same EPA papers that seems to be the case.

I was told in a local dealership that the 96 couldn't make California emissions. I know nothing about this, just found the comment interesting. I actually figure it has more to do with coming in over the stock 100ci on the Victorys. Still, I'd love to have an FXDWG with a stock 103.

Bought my bike at the end of May this year. Had I known they where going with the 103, I would have waited "SIGH"
