Tried the search options and narrowed down to either switch, relay or starter (have new stator/battery and its all charging well.....

50% of the time, when I first go to start bike, push starter button and nothing...try it a few times and it turns starter, bike starts all good. Other times it fine. Noticed today that it ONLY does it when I first go out to start the bike for first time (even if it was on battery tender overnight) cold, once it starts, you can start it first turn all day long regardless of how many stop/starts you do..????

So, give it only does it first start, and does it with new battery that charges well??? Which is more likely given the symptom?? Any help greatly appreciated! I hate changing parts that are fine!

 

id think it would be a solinoid on the starter or the relay switch. id try replacing the relay first. also check 30 amp braker as well.

 

I had very similar issues last year, replaced the starter relay and all those problems went away. Starter relay is cheap, but, after you plug it in - you own it.

 

Thanks guys....just have to locate it :-) There are a couple down behind oil tank ahead of rear fender area...but there is another one located under seat behind battery...wiring all taped up so hard to trace what it does?
