Ever since moving to avon venom's I will never buy a different make. I like them that much. They are like glue to the road. I have almost 4 thousand miles on these and the indie that does my work says that they still look new.

Metzelers are very similar to the feel of Avon's. Both are much better tires than stock Dunlops.

Agreed! Avons are a great tire.

The fact of the matter on tires is that stock tires are never the best choice for a bike. This is solely my opinion, but after owning 15 or so bikes and having ridden the majority of them with stock tires and other brands as well, stock tires just seem to be the last consideration a manufacturer will decide on. It is more about whom they have a contract with and what they offer in that particular size.

I will always prefer a sticker, more well rounded tire over a stock Dunlop which is hard as a rock and rather flat feeling on my fatboy. It si always worth the extra money but until you have experienced it for yourself it sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo.
