Default different tires??

Can you ride with 2 different brand tires on the bike?Like the stock 200 mm Dunlop on the rear and put a Metz 120/70 on the front?I read the 120/70 is a much better tire for the Train thx

You should be OK. Always run an equal or better tire on the front not the other way around. oregonrider.

I had always heard not to mix tread designs.

I'm running the Dunlop on front that was on the bike when I bought it. Changed the rear to a Metz 880 this summer and no issues. Will be changing both to Metz when the next change is due.

And who decides what brand of tires are the better ones? Or were you referring to the amount of tread wear left?

Better to me is stickier rubber with less tendency to follow irregularities in the road. Normally I would not mix brands, however I think the OEM dunlop sucks. I hated that front tire on my 35th aniv. SG. I changed to the SE dunlops with the 180 rear which I feel is about the same as the metz 880. IMHO. oregonrider.
