Read a post yesterday where a Metzler tire blew out on front and lucky driver escaped only with some serious road rash. Thinking about replacing stock Dunlops with Metzler's because I heard ride and handling is greatly improved. Also stock 16's to new 18's. Also anybody know what they are talking about when they refer to tires as E 3's.
Just want to make sure Metzlers are safe and that yesterdays post was just a rare case.
I would say yes they are. I've been running mine on my 21/18 combo. There was a bad batch that came out if brazil about a yr ago. I know alot of people run Metz without any issues. Didn't hear about blow out but have heard of a couple buldges forming on sidewalls but I think they got that prob tooking care of. All in all I think they are a good safe tire
Yes, Metzler's are safe, some people swear by them, E3's are a dunlop tire, a lot of people swear by these also. I personally would go with the E3's. Jim.
I'm on my second Metz on the rear waiting on the front Dunlop to wear out. The metz is a big improvement over the dunlop402. I am going to go with Dunlop e3's front and rear since I've heard such high praises on them. They cost less than the stock Dunlops or the Metzelers and semm to get better mileage. The only drawback is no whitewall. So as I said the Metzelers are good tires but I'm going with the e3's because of the feedback they seem to be the best of both worlds. Good luck with your choice!
I ran metz on one of my old bikes years ago and didnt have any issues, ran E3's on my last bike and will run E3's on my new bike when I need new tires, unless there's something better @ that point.
I have a set of metzlers on my roadglide right now ,the rear was made in Germany and only took less than a 1/2 ounce to balance ,the front one was made in Brazil and took 4 1/2 ounces to balance, will not likely buy another set if the fronts are still being made in Brazil this is poor manufacturing,I will probably go back to dunlop E3's
Metzler ride and handle much better the the stock Dunlop's and are your best choice if going wide white wall but they are a soft tire which is why the handle well and they don't last as long, the E3's are the Dunlop that Goldwing riders run, they handle and wear well but only come in black wall
