I agree with the Doc here. It is really tricky and up to ones taste. I dont thik I am in a position where I could switch easily as I come from an overseas country. Shipping back and forth would be a pocket drainer on its own. There was a video in youtube about VH duals with and without the baffles but the sound uality makes it difficult to distinguish!
Most folks around here go with samson or VH without baffles on. Hearing something with baffles is the tricky part.

What are the samson cholos? Is that a model of its own (different thatn s2-430) or just slang for fishtails?

Cholos are the long pipes, 36" and 42" lengths I believe. Pull up a pic of Drew's bike and you'll get the idea.

Baby cholo's are 36", regular cholo's are 39" and super cholo's are 42". They also make fishtails in 23.5", 28.5" and 33".

The cholos are the 39" long version of the longtails/fishtails.The mini cholos are the 36" long version. And the NEW Super cholos are the 42" long version

I had the short shots on my sporty. My buddy has them on his fat bob.I would say they are about the same loudness.Maybe the non baffled Cholos are a bit louder. But they have a different sound or tone. The short shots are more blatty as Drew said. But when you are ridding the cholos sound is behind you so its not that bad for the rider. But everyone one else will want you to ride in the back of the pack.Where as the short shots the sound is coming out right by your ear.So for the rider they seem very loud.

I just swapped Vance & Hines straight shot slip ons for Samson Cholo's. The sound is totally different. The V&H were loud, but they had a bark to them. They were very mellow on decel and cruise speed. The Samsons are much deeper and have a much better sound in my opinion. The V&H were great for slip ons.
