Default Saggy leather saddlebags

It's a common complaint that the leather saddlebags on the Heritage Softail sag after a few years. You can buy a kit that stiffens the lids and they look good but somewhat artificial rather like silicon enhanced t1ts!

Our women's t1ts sag as the years go by but we don't send them off for a boob job (though some do of course). We love them just the same.

So, what's the general feeling boys? Yes or no to stiffening saggy bags?

No saggy bags. Get the kits and keep them looking new...

Depends.. the bags on my old sportster were kind of saggy, but the bike was almost 20 years old and was showing signs of age, so i kind of liked them like that..but if you have a relatively newer bike and want to make it look new, then yes, stiffen them up.

It's simply not true that bags on a Heritage sag "just because". They sag because you haven't taken care of them. My bags are a year old and they look like they did when it rolled out of the factory. I have a nephew with a 5 year old Heritage and his bags also look like new.

If your bags get soaking wet and are not properly dried out and treated then they will stretch out and sag. Leather and water just don't get along. Keep them dry and well conditioned and they will last as long as your bike will.

Now, that said, there are a lot of good folks on here that could care less and don't want to be bothered with their upkeep and that is cool. Like my bike, I just like my bags to look good.

I've taken very good care of my saddlebags, and they began caving in at the outside rear corners. I installed the "Papa Bags" supports; I have full open access, lids lay flat and the bags hang naturally without being rigid. I like 'em!

Use a thin piece of aluminum, (such as a window screen) and Rivet them to the top inside of the bags......... . . . . . .No more saggy............................ .
