Red Light Changer
When your engine turns and the stator spins you already have an electromagnetic field created by the stator and the motor turning.

Some good info here, didn't know its actually legal to slowly proceed thru a red light if your holding up traffic, at least in some states. Amanet has a red light changer with a powerful neodymium magnet and they claim their holder that they use with the magnet shields the rest of the bike. Guess it is possible to screw up sensitive electronics on your bike.
In Londonderry NH is the same, whats really sad about our LEOs is they hang out at the 4 intersections just to nail bikers during the season... I was pulled over at 12am. i waited 3 cycles of the lights. I finally decided to go and sure enough i got pulled me over... The only thing that saved me from an expensive ticket was my VET plate... He tried to give me a warning and i tossed back what the hell would you have done at the light, His response was i did the only thing i could... REALLY... He was playing the probable cause card hoping i was drunk..... I pull the right turn and do a U turn when no other cars are ahead of me LOL

Almost none.
In any case, if a light will not allow you to proceed and has gone through at least one cycle because it doesn't sense you, then it is broken. And you are allowed to proceed through a broken light as long as you treat it as a 4 way stop. This should be true in most states. I've been pulled over for doing this, and the cop apologized. (After running my license, of course ...)
If you are having a problem on your commute with a particular light, then report it to your traffic bureaucracy. They can adjust the sensitivity.

I put one of the light changer magnets on my bike 5 years ago. Really don't know how much it helps.
Whenever I stop at a light, if it doesn't sense the bike, I turn as soon as there is no traffic coming from the other direction. I figure if it didn't change when it was suppose to it's not going to change the next time either.

Almost none are weight activated. They are, as stated several places here, inductive loops. While there might be a few weight activated ones left they would be ancient. Most likely they'd be replaced by the inductive loops the first time the road was repaved, otherwise the weight sensor would be permanently activated by the extra weight of the new pavement.
what exactly do you have? how about a link or pic or something? thanks
I stop directly over one of the edges of the sensor loops and I never seem to have a problem on either of my bikes. If I stop in the middle of the loop I will have trouble. I actually have alot of problems with my lifted Jeeps though. I think the metal is to far from the sensor. I wait till it's clear an drive through the intersection.
So you know for absolute fact what percentage of lights are weight activated? Got a link? If you don't know for a fact then why are you acting like you do? I deal with several weight activated lights on a regular basis. If I forget to hit the brakes hard I often don't activate them. As long as I hit the brakes hard I do activate them.
If the light doesn't change, how do you know it's going through it's cycle? Some lights don't change at all until a vehicle pulls up to it.
