There are weight activated left turn signals all over a local road here that was just repaved a year ago. It takes quite a bit of weight per square inch to activate the pressure sensors.

This is definitely a load of BS. The devices that emergency vehicles use are RF transmitters, and they turn ALL the lights at the intersection RED so NOBODY can go.

You are definitely NOT going to get one on ebay, and just being in possession of one (let alone using one) would be a crime.

Do you have proof of weight activated signals? They aren't mentioned at all in the articles on the history of traffic signals, and nowhere on the web can I find anything that would suggest they have ever existed. Doesn't mean they don't, but don't ask for proof if you yourself can't find any. Some people swear that flashing their brights makes the light change, another myth debunked all over the web. Plenty of info on inductive loops and video detection though!

But if slamming on the brakes works for you, by all means continue!

Weight activated no sir. Wires in groves cut in asphalt or under re-paved.

Usually go to the line cut for the loop so as much of my bike as possible is over the sensor. Works most of the time. Odd how we can't get the smart lights to change for our bikes, but run over the same type sensors for red light cameras and speed sensing cameras...they work every time!

Boy, what a touchy topic this ended up being!! Myself? Honestly? I usually try to take measures before I ride that allows me to ride in a very nice and mellow state of mind. Light's? What light's? 1 minute? 2 minutes? Hmm, I will have to pay more attention next time I am sitting at a light, watch it and see what it does. Red, stop, Green, go!! Coils? Wieght sensitive? Magnets? Hmm, never ever gave that any thought either! Red, I pull up and stop. Green, I keep going or if I am sitting there and it turns green I take off! Thats what I do!!

Yeahhhh!!!! Lol I am with this guy. Enjoy the ride and don't worry about what kind of light it is just do what you think works. I can see it now. I am gonna be pulling behind someone in the intersection that has a hammer and chisel out digging up the plate or wire just to see haha
