Default wider front tire on softail standard ?

I'd like to change my front tire on my softail standard to a wider front tire. Does anybody know if I can do that and what size tire I can change to? Do I have to change the forks, or does a wider rim/tire fit in my current fork. Has anyone changed to a wider tire?

you have to 90 now to go to the 110 you need a new front fender. I have done several and they handle much better feel more stable under low speed, and loose traction type riding( gravel parking lot) Fenders are not to badley priced. There is a 100 tire but it really does not make any improvment. For the wider 21 the 110 is a great way to go. BUt you also need a wider front rim, you can get the 110 on a stock wheel but it is wash as the tire gets pulled into the bead and is really not any wider.

So tell me if I can do this ??? I have a 2004 Softail Standard, I would like to fit a 2007 Fatboy wheel, you know the one with those holes all around? and upgrade to 1" axle at the same time.

Can I just buysay, the 2006 lowers (I believe that was first year of 1" axle, probably same part number for 2007 unless they changed something again), a 1"axle, a wheel of course, any stock spacers, new fender also, did I miss anything?

I guess this hinges mainly on whether the fork spacing is the same for the Standard and the Fatboy?

Anybody seen this done, thanks, John

On a side note; wouldn't that throw off your speedo a bit?

Unless it's an older softail the speedo is run from a speed sensor.

If you want to go to a 16" wheel, like Fatboy/Heritage, you can check out my conversion here:

If you want to stick to a 21" wheel with a wider tire I can't help you.

No need to go to a 1" axle and extra cost of buying new lowers for your forks.... buy an earlier model Fatboy wheel with a 3/4" axle...HD dealers should still sale them and I'm sure there's lots of used ones around...If you have to get a 2007 Fatboy wheel you can change out the 1" axle with a 3/4" installation kit...
...ps..plenty of space for a Fatboy tire/wheelwith a Standard
Forks...did it with my Night Train.
