I was out riding with some buddys yesterday and we were all sitting at a stop light and i noticed that all three of there engine were shaking and mine was solid. Why is this.Is it that my engine has different motor mounts, tuned different, or what. I have an 07 softail custom the others were 08 street glides 2010 street glide and a 07 street bob.

Just wondering they all run well.

 

Your engine is counter balanced while theirs are not. It is that simple.

 

i am newer to the HD world. What exactly does the mean?

 

The "B" motor in a softail is internally balanced and hard mounted to the frame. The FL's and dyna's and hell, all the rest these days have rubber mounts and dance all over the place so as not to shake the fillings out of the riders. Their motors don't settle down until they get rolling, ours will actually start to shake a bit at highway speeds. It all depends on how you like to ride as to which is better.

 

The "B" motors have counter balancers built into them to negate the vibrations. That makes them tolerable since they are rigid mounted in the frame. The Street Glides have rubber mounted engines that absorb the vibration...and they look cool when at idle. :-)

 

A friend just picked up a 2007 Super Glide Custom, and asked me to take for a ride. It has forward controls, I thought my toenails were gonna rattle off. I was surprised at the difference.

 

A -- motor, all touring bikes, rubber mounts = SHAKEY...

B -- motor, all softtails starting with TC motor, Balanced and solid mouts, = No SHAKEY.
