Carb or FI?
Went over and checked out the bike's tank. On the left rear of the gas tank it has one line going into it. On the air cleaner it says "Sequential port injection Fatboy"
2001 is the M&M efi. 2002 was the first year of Delphi EFI. I avhe one carb bike and one EFI. I like them both but tuning the carb bike is much easier and less expensive. A jet kit vs the cost of a tuner and/or a Dyno tune. On a bike such as a Harley, when you are changing pipes, air cleaner, cams engine etc simplicity of tuning is a nice thing but i avhe done it both ways. It just cost more with a tuner.
After further review, as of 2001, Softails became available with Delphi EFI. This is the same year that H-D switched from Magneti-Marelli to Delphi in all models that had EFI as an option.

I was checking it out today and it will need a rear tire soon but it seems to run very well and looks good (Exhaust sounds great). Bike has around 35,000 miles on it and i can get it for around $6500. Only thing that scares me about it is if it has the M&M completly in the dark on F/I.
Highly probable. I searched for a bit, and that was the best answer I found. I just Googled it. All sources said EFI wasn't available on Softails til 2001 and that was the year H-D switched to Delphi. Like any used vehicle, check it out carefully even if it costs a few bucks to do so. Are maintenance records available? Does a quick look reveal negligence? What mods have been done that you can't live with? Etc. Etc. Price seems to be in the ballpark. Why is it up for sale? Good luck!
Wow, I don't think I've seen a "carb vs. EFI" thread so FI biased in my whole 4 years on this site and there have been a lot of 'em. Where are all the "love my carb, won't touch an FI bike" people?
If you are a newb to the Harley world and most especially, if you have a shop do all your work for you, then EFI is the way to go. No chokes, no hard starts, no rejetting. Just get it tuned correctly, if it isn't already, and forget it about it! Totally reliable. Just ride. My bike hasn't so much as sputtered once since I bought it in '08.
For the record, tho, I would go either way in a heartbeat. I like carbed bikes equally. Different animal, but I can work on either, so it doesn't really matter to me.

Never had any issues with my carbed WG. Not really to big of an issue to adjust the choke on a cold day, and in WI it does get pretty cold. Get it tuned right and a carb works.
