New Deuce Owner
broken, congrats on your ride choice. The pic below is mine all bagged out for its maiden voyage to Sturgis, via Colorado from Kansas. Wish mine were carbed, '06. Wish I could find a sissy bar like sixshooters, the stock one pushes the wifes butt too far forward on the Sundowner. Ride to arrive alive, Dennis
I like custom Deuces but prefer one that is a bit more like a Confederate.
Village Idiot told me in an earlier post that I wasn't a "real man" because my wheels and tires weren't big enough. I laughed and thought if I fought back by pointing out big wheels are for customs I could be funny too. He didn't laugh. Uh-Oh.
I probably do have strong enough opinions to qualify as a "dick" but really came by these opinions the hard way-over time. I am coming up on 50 years of riding and loving big Harleys and was the first guy in my area to figure out how to run a newfangled "disc brake" on a Harley. I really pissed off the guys when I did that and apparently I haven't lost my ability to **** guys off.
The Deuce is an amazing bike for something stock from the MoCo. Some guys want more and see a "Big Dog" others like me lean more towards a Confederate.
Sorry you hate my bike and hate my taste and hate my comments. Guess I will jump on the Deuce and see if a good day in the saddle cheers me up some.

I never thanked you for the huge compliment. You think I have "the latest HD touring accessories bolted on to it..." I made that shield by hand. The fact you think it is pure factory was my intention---You can't do that kind of work just by opening your wallet. I have a LOT of little touches a BMW rider buddy asks "do the Harley guys ever notice any of this stuff..."
Well, no. Unless to think I bought it from the stealer...haha.
It took a year to get it right and I will be doing another repaint to try to make it even prettier. It takes special plastic bonding paint and gets a candy finish from being shot INSIDE the shield. The plastic is a Memphis Shades blank. The hardware was some billet pieces I had laying around the shop.
The tough part was getting it to work in the wind. It took five different handlebar setups before I struck gold. Now the bike is a joy at any speed and along with the three degree cups I put in the front end the handling is incredible in bad wind at high speeds on the highway.
As for better brakes, I did those. Better forks, I built those by blueprinting the sliders, running five weight overfilled and getting five and a half inches of travel and MUCH better tracking in bumps on fast corners. It flat out handles.
All this stuff takes TIME and effort. Money? Not so much.
It is how I have fun. Sorry if we do not approach our Deuces from the same direction. But no matter what you do to it the Deuce is an amazing bike for a factory effort. Way to go Harley...
