I've had my 01 deuce since. 01, amazing machine. I've run v&h big shots (still available direct from v&h, just gotta call), they fit no matter what they might say. Look great and sound badass with or without baffles

Is it possible to fit a 200mm rear tire on the deuce without doing any mods to the swingarm or fenders? I found this pair of fatboy tires and was debating grabbing the rear tire to do a swap with my 160 stock deuce tire/rim.

http://treasure.craigslist.org/mcy/3284357621.html

Is this possible? I know it will mess with the speedo a little.

search "200 deuce", there are a few threads on here about doing it. I can't remember his s/n, but a guy did it with keeping everything else stock and it looks sick as hell. I can't wait to do mine.

Edit:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...-on-deuce.html

looks like the links to his pics broke and there are no pics anymore. that sucks, his bike is sex on wheels.

Default Tires and Handlebars

I don't know why guys obsess on fatty tires on the rear as the stock size is pretty great for handling. But that skinny front Dunlop needs to be swapped out for a larger 90/90-21 Metzler 880 running more tire pressure. It will then track better in the curves and over squiggly parts in the road.

Biggest improvement I did to my Deuce was the 4 inch Z-bars from J and P. The pullback handlebar riser setup on the Deuce looks sexy however it shoves your turning circle several inches rearward "out-of-alignment" and makes the steering feel cockeyed. Sort of like using a boat tiller---it puts most flat track type bars behind their correct turning fulcrum.

The Z-bars not only have a touch of "Frisco-style" flare, they have the attachment moved FORWARD so once they are installed the turning radius of the Deuce is now back on center. No more "boat tiller" weirdness.

I am tall and also extended the foot controls three inches forward and a bit lower. Stock I felt cramped and off-balance. Now I feel secure with some weight in my boots. The Deuce is by far the best riding big Harley I have ever sat my heiny upon in 50 years of riding. It feels so natural under you that your abilities as a driver will really shine.

I just got back from a delicious 1,000 mile ride up in the Catskills. Threw on some luggage and felt real happy on I-87 at 75-85 mph, no problems with the luggage or truck blow-by causing handling wiggles.

My Kuryakin trunk straps on wonderfully well to a stock Harley Sundowner like you already have. I am running a pair of "safety straps" around the passenger grab leather and up to the front grommets, using velcro. It didn't move an inch the whole ride. Ditched the bag when I got to my hotel. It is nice to have a touring bike that people shout "nice bike" when you are out getting breakfast... The luggage just slips off from under the saddle mounting pad so it is a "convertible."

What a great bike the Deuce is!

yes it is possible, you need a 18x 5.5" wheel, that is what i am running on mine,
at the moment i am running a 180, no mods to do this! to run a 200 you need the narrower belt and pulley off the later models, the 06 nightrain one will work
that will fit under the rear fender , and the narrower belt and pulley will allow for clearance of tyre to drive pulley
i set mine up with the 180 and never got around to going 200, puley still fine, when i need a new pulley and tyre may put 200 on,180 fine though!
you do no a deuce rim will take a 170 no probs at all ,or a dunlop SE 180 (not a true 180 i hear)
fatboy wheels are only 16 i think???

It makes the look of the bike. That with a 23" front wheel and it's going to look killer.

Yeah, I will be in awe of those that bite on this latest fashionista styling statement. Or will I be hiding a guffaw when you show up riding it?

I suppose it is all relative. Do what you want.

But I used to notice trends that looked exotic AND actually rode better. Chrome XLCR 750s like Evel Knievel which looked racy AND worked well. Extended chrome springers so that if you went over six inches extension the springer would function whereas a Hydra-Glide fork would get all stiction-bound.

You know---stuff that actually DID something besides just to gawk at. Oh well, I'm just a old coot and who gives a hoot. See you in the funny papers.

"Because it's not ideal for a cross country road trip, it's pointless and stupid." Man, what a dick.

I'd love to see a deuce with a 200 out back and a 23 up front! I've got a 180 on mine now, wanna wait until is dropped 2 in the rear and license plate gone to do a 200 inside the factory rear fender. Eventually I'm gonna fat tire the front, lose the front fender, and go drag bars. But that won't be until its time for a paint job, do a complete attitude and style change of the bike.

And I never brought up how stupid a stock chromed out Deuce that has all the lastest HD touring accessories bolted on to it looks.

If I wanted performance and functionality out of a motorcycle, I wouldn't have bought a Harley. True story. Why spend thousands on a bike to make it perform at a fraction of what my last bike did when I 'm more interested in getting the look out of it that I want? Because of someone else's stupid opinion? If I wanted mods that increased performance, I would have had a new engine put in the bike, better forks, better breaks, better suspension, etc... and for an $11,000 bike with at least over $8,000 in mods, it would have still handled worse and been slower than the stock Daytona 675 I bought for $5,000 used in mint condition.
