Default Slip ons 2012 Fatboy

The weather NY has been miserable recently, which has given me lots of time to think of ways of spending $$$ on the bike. Since I'm interested in improving sound quality only, I have narrowed my decision to slip ons, either Rush 1.75" or V and H straight shot slip ons. 2 questions....

1) Any difference in ease of installing?
2) Any difference in sound volume?

I'm going to select the pipes that have the deeper bass and quieter of the 2.

The youtube sound clips aren't very helpful because the sound quality is pretty bad in general. I'm just looking for seat of the pants opinions here...

Thanks!

Can't help directly with the two questions you have asked, but i put the V&H Slip-ons on my 2012 Fatboy and love the sound. so much better than the stock mufflers. As far as installation, it is pretty simple, just tedious. If V&H would have just had some welded in nuts on the bracket (on the muffler like the factory HD ones) it would be much simpler. There just isn't much room to work with. you will need some very small (thin profile) wrenches and sockets to make the job easier. and you will probably need a set of helping hands.

I have the Rush 2 inch. You will need a 3/8 flexible head ratcheting wrench. If you get that one tool, it will be worth the money with the amount of frustration it will save. You can do it with a standard wrench, but you will scratch the pipes. Spray a little rust penetrating oil on the clamped end of the muffler to help get them loose.

I put the V&H Slip ons on my bike (2011 Fatboy). As Silvereagle said....Its easy, but tedious.
The slip ons are loud. I like them, But felt they were a tad too loud for me.
I put in Smartpartz baffles and they quited down by 30%. Still sound loud....But not as too loud.
I added a Fuelpak from V&H as I had some decel back fire. Real easy to install and works perfect.

Could you grab a quick sound clip for me? I get the sense that the Rush 1.75 baffles are what I'm looking for in terms of loudness, louder but not deafening?

Any issues with decel popping?

Hello there, I have a 2012 Fat Boy Lo and put the V&H Twin Slash on and have some bad decel pop , you did not have this problem? I put on a K&N filter on and also tried the HD Super Tuner with Stage 1 , nothing seems to help, anyone have similar problem?

I ultimately installed the Vance and Hines Propipe.

First off how do you define "bad decel pop." Is it true backfiring or is it more of a low "burble." True backfiring is most likely an air leak. Make sure you have the pipes fully seated and that you have fully tightened the torca clamps. Also check that the headpipe flange bolts are torqued to specs.

If it's more of a burbling sound, make sure you have the correct map installed in the Super Tuner. If the map is correct adjust the decel enleanment (make it richer)5% at a time until the popping goes away.
