Default Removing fuel gauge connector

Im trying to remove the fuel gauge on my 06 Deuce. Is there a secret to seperating the 2 terminals from the connector so i can pull the wires up through the tank and remove it?

There are instructions for each type of connector in the back of the shop manual. For my year of bike there are two types of tools that you use to depress part of the terminal so that it will pull out of the plastic connector. They are pins more or less of different size. It is hard to explain unless you are looking at a picture but the pins slide beside the terminal to press a spring loaded tang while you extract the terminal on the one you are speaking of if I remember correctly, assuming that they didn't change since 2006.

What cwsharp says ...

If it's like mine, it's a multi lock.

See the attachment. It will make it clear how to do it.

Bit fiddly so take your time.
