Wanting to replace my 2013 Wide Glide's fuel gauge and fuel cap with the HD LED set. I looked up the instructions and it said "remove old gauge per service manual". Problem is, I can't find a service manual for this model. Anyone know of a how-to video on gauge removal?
Go buy a 2013 Dyna manual from the dealership. Expensive, but worth it's weight in gold.
But.... if it's the same as 2014 Dynas, which it probably is, just pull the gauge up to remove. The wiring from it goes down through a tube through the fuel tank to a connector under the tank. You should be able to either undo the tanks fixings and push the tank back a couple of inches, or remove it entirely, then separate the connector halves.
You will then need to either remove the pins from the connector, or cut the wires. Then you can pull the wiring out. The connector is too big to fit through the tube that goes through the tank.
The new gauge install is the reverse. Thread the wiring through the tank, crimp pins on the wires, click them into the connector shell. Mate the connector halves.
There's also a bit of fussing around with the LED gauge and the holder to fit it into the tank, but it's just a few screws.
