Default 2003---->2005 Fatboy question

Guys,

A couple months ago I traded my 2003 injected fattie in on a trike. Love the trike but got to missing two wheels once in a while so last week I bought a clean 2005 fattie, also injected.

Two questions:

Does anyone know if my "new" 2005 has the automatic primary chain tensioner? My 2003 did not. If not, are those aftermarket ones you sometimes see in the mags any good?

Second, I still have the factory service and parts manuals for my 2003. Shouldn't I be able to use those for the most part on my 2005? You know how damn pricey those things are.

Thanks.

I believe the 2005 softails still had the older style tensioners and that they did not change over until about 2006 or 2007. Your 2003 service manual should be good for the 2005 at least for most things.

2007 was the first year of the new style tensioners on the softail. 2003 and 2005 should be mostly the same. I think the speedo is a bit different but I don't think anything else.
