Default Cam Swap

I recently posted a thread concerning Cam Selection. Have a related question but decided to start a new thread.

The bike: 2003 Night Train. Mikuni Carb, Stage 1 intake and exhaust.

I upgraded to the Screaming Eagle Hydraulic cam tensioner system and at the same time installed SE 203 cams. The 203's were an improvement but not what I had expected. Seems I gained more power in the Mid and Upper RPM range. I wanted to boost Bottom and Mid without sacrificing top end. Many members recommended Andrews 21's over the 203's.

So my questions are: (1) How much difference, and what differances will I notice between the 203's and the Andrews 21's?

I do my own wrenching so I'll only need to spring for the price of the cams.

(2) Would removing the 203's and installing 21's be worth the time and trouble?

Found this in another forum..

this is a EFI 05 road king 55,000 miles with just a 203 bolt in.
the 203 works very well in a 88 ci stock head bike, but the 204's work as well and better depending on pipes.

The do look a little soft under 3500 rpms

I think the 203's do better in the 96''er cause the heads flow better.

Here's a 96'er with the 21's..

Both of the above sheets are STD which will show 2-5% higher numbers than a SAE sheet will and its on an 08 bike..

Take a little time and read through these below.. It'll help U learn more.

Also here's a really good thread about the SE and 21 cams

Thanks for the Comp. Its good to know that I've helped someone.

I spent a lot of time Looking and Studying and Saving Links about cams when I picked mine back in 08 and I've never quit trying to learn more.

I just like to help others in here with what I've learned when they are looking for what Cams to install.
