Why do I not see anything mentioned about S&S cams? Maybe there is and I just have not seen it. I've seen a lot of SE, Woods, Andrews, but not S&S. Is there some bad press about them or something? I've been looking into the S&S 551. It appears to be the counterpart to the SE255. Thoughts?
I don't want to start a bashing thread or anything, just wondering and exploring all options.
The Indy where I took my '11 FLTRX in for a tune, talked very highly of that cam. I already installed the Andrews 48H. He liked my choice for a 96" bagger, but he said the 48H and the S&S 551 are hard to beat! Funny how he menitioned the S&S 551 when I didn't even ask about it.
I'm real happy with my cam, but I don't think I could of went wrong with either. If you go with the 551 don't forget to post your dyno sheet!
Got the S&S Easy Start 551 in my '08 Street Glide and have no complaints at all. Bike starts easier now than it did stock and these cams have a nice torque curve too. I'd highly recommend either of the S&S Easy Start bolt in cams to anyone looking to upgrade who doesn't have or want to go through the process of doing the compression releases.
