I've read some of these threads and I can shed some light. I'm a certified HD tech (dynojet certified too). HD spends millions of dollars in research and development to get all components of each bike to run correctly (I won't tell you about the EPA mandates that they're mapped lean). Whenever you change ANYTHING having to do with performance you need to get new info to the ECM or brain. Downloaded maps are never right. You can take the same 2 identical bikes off the factory line and they will read different. The only way to tune your bike correctly is to dyno. Don't work for them but dynojet power commander is the best out there. I can get a bike to run perfect stoichiometric effiency (best air/fuel mixture)through all gears/rpms with dyno. This will make your bike run better than from the factory line. The only way. Basically if you have the cash, the best upgrade you can do is fine tune with power commander. Just remember you will have to do exhaust and intake. You will be amazed at the difference and you can bet you will get the most life out of your engine.
