New Project
Hey guys,
Thought you might appreciate a new project I am working on. Before anyone gets any panties in a bunch:
1. No way am I getting rid of my Springer and
2. It is not a Harley (but any true Harley guy would appreciate it)
I just got a 1967 Triumph T120R (650cc) with less than 5000 miles on her. She is all there and just needs cosmetic attention and all fluids/seals/hoses changed. She has been sitting for over 25 years in a garage, so I need to flush everything and, of course, put new tires/tubes/rim strips on her.
I think I might just leave the "cool 70's paint job as-is.
So, without further ado:

This should be a fun little project. I have a lot to learn about Brittish bikes. But that is half the fun.

...and to think I went American all those years ago because I wanted an old-fashioned bike I could understand!
Nice thing - let's have a look when you've got it running.
Recently a Vincent Black Shadow was advertised over here for £55k ($87k)...think I'll stick with my cheap Deluxe!

Awesome find, love love love the paint man....I'd keep it close but wouldn't stay 100% stock....It would make a really cool cafe racer / board tracker.......Maybe flip the bars around or put true board tracker bars on her....

Thanks guys! I just wahed years worth of oil and grease off the engine, primary and trans. The rims are pretty rusty, but they can be cleaned up. Frame has a little surface rust in spots, but nothing that can't be touched up. I think, at this point, my plan is to keep as much of that original patina as possible. Gonna make the dual carbed engine purr and make her stop and turn well. Like I said, the bike has been sitting for over 25 years, and to make her perfect and totally stock would cost more than she is worth.
I had dreams of making her into a cafe racer, but looking carefully at her I think she will be a fun little toy, as-is when I'm done. I may get some exchangable sheetmetal (deep, gloss black tank and side panels), a second set of bars and some better brakes/shocks for her so I can change the appearance of the bike when I feel like it, but I am kind of digging her retro-cool vibe as she sits.
I'll keep you posted as the project goes if you guys are interested. Its fun cruising up to shops that sell old English bike stuff on my Springer. There is a whole lot of mutual respect between the Harley guys and the Triumph guys. Oh, and on the Vincent front, anyone who likes motorcycles would give his left nut to have a Black Shadow. That bike is super-cool in every circle.

A buddy of mine has two; a 67 British green with gold powder coated original rims and a 72 blue. He's turned them both into bobbers and they look awesome; especially the 67. If I can find the pics I'll post them.
