vance and hines again
Is it true that the Big Shots Staggered pipes for my Fatboy choke the exhaust flow requiring the expensive retuning? I just have to have these pipes but at a total cost of over $2K it is maddening. I can affford the $600 for the pipes...but the retuning expense is a brick wall. Does anyone know of an alternative solution for someone like me who really likes those V&H pipes.

First of all, what year Fatty?
Secondly, there are several options that exist instead of a full tune. You could get a fuel management system for probably around $300-400. Or you could get a set of XIEDS (like I did) for less than $100. They accomplish the same thing as a fuel management system at a fraction of the cost. My Fatty has V&H Propipe and a SE Air Ventilator Kit and the XIEDS have it running like a dream.

more info on vance and hines issue
Thanks guys for replying.
I am new here. My bike is a 2012 SoftTail Fatboy. Bought it new with stock pipes. Want to get the Big Shots Staggered Chrome. Ready to pull the trigger, but hear horror stories of "floating the valves" if I dont get the Stage1 air kit with $400 computer chip and $500 retune service on dynamometer.
Will first study what was said above about this. Forums like this are valuable. Learn good info and can save money.

I am interested in laidbkjm's comment about spending only $800 for the V&H pipes. Are you happy with the solution? Valves not overheating from excess air flow now that catalytic converter is gone?
Also HD Street Bob has an inexpensive solution. Never heard of Xieds. Will google around to get educated.
