Default custom mpg?

Hey guys, I have a new to me 05 custom. Got a question abouit. I am getting about 160 to 170 miles to a tank. Is that normal. It V&H long shots (no baffles) and stage 2 intake with K&N. Just checking. I came from a FXDX with about the same mods plus a cam and was getting around 210 to a tank. By the way I love the softail.

How many gallons is your tanK and what is it compared to your last bike? I have the stock Deluxe tank but my motor is far from stock. I get between 30 and 35 MPG the way it's set up now. PLUS, now I am going to admit something and I will probably catch some chit for it but I never knew what all those letters means on all the different styles of bikes. To me, it's a Deluxe, a Standard, a Fatboy, Heritage and so on. So, putting that out there I don't know what bike you came from. I know I can Google it but all those letters never meant anything to me for the past 40 years, I see no sense in trying to learn or figure them out now.

I have an 05 Fatboy (88 - 1450), with SERT, stage 1 only. I get 45-47 mpg average...Its my understanding once upgrades are installed you can loose mpg...

That is awesome!

I'm pretty good with the Softail family... but FX blah, blah, blah and you lose me.

Cheers man... glad I'm not alone.

I was getting 175 miles, give or take 5, when my light would come on. If filled right away, it would take 4.5 gallons in a 5 gallon tank. This with Longshots, Stage 1 A/C, Andrews 37 cams, FuelMoto PCIII. I haven't put enough miles on the 98" kit to get it dynoed and tuned, yet, sooo....

You seem to measure the 'tank' I am not sure how do you measure that ? did you run it until it was dry ? A better way to understand your mileage is to figure out by distance how much gas you put.
At any rate, I get 200 miles from my tank (that is when I fill it with around 4.4 gallons close to reserve).
But IT depends...
Traffic
Your acceleration
City vs highway vs freeway.

I find the worst is city
Followed by highway above 70MPH
Best is freeway around 60MPG

And I ride my bike like a 'Harley' I did race jap bikes for years, had 450 pounders with 145HP on the rear wheel, so ain't no VTwin (stage kit) gonna impress me, I ride it cause it is pretty , got soul and makes me happy, not cause I am in a rush to prove anything to the people around me , <end of speed rant>

I fill it around there and put in about 4 gal. It depends on where I ride, on the highway it's real good around the side roads it's less.

Sweet Suntower!!! I was beginning to think I was the only one not impressed enough to learn and know all of those F whatever's! I don't even order parts that way! I tell them an 06 Deluxe and it seems to work. I have yet to come home with the wrong part.
