Hey I don't blame you...someone on here brought it up last year and I started casually checking mine when I remembered...while at my place up in the mountains this summer, I checked my helmet one morning and there was a honking huge wood spider in there...that would hurt...he was evicted alive to hunt on for more size appropriate prey...LOL. it's worth a look...

Apparently you dont know how bad a black widow or recluse bites are. They can desolve flesh down to bare bone.

Got a bunch of those at my house. Didnt know what a recluse looked like till a few years ago and apparently the brown spiders I was killing were recluses. Havent seen much of any spiders since we fumigated for termites.

http://www.kcet.org/news/the_back_fo...n-recluse.html

The geographical spread of the brown recluse is mainly in the wooded areas in the South. Don't have 'em in CA.

Might be some other kind of recluse spider though...

Whatever they were (are?)... the little bastards were probably eating those squishy, delicious termites.

No food... no spiders.

Well.. "Less" spiders anyway. Sleep well!

Hate the friggin things. Always check my stuff that has been in the garage. I will take my jackets and turn the arms inside out just to make damn sure. Bigger clothes I will put on the floor and stomp on first.

Don't worry OP there are plenty of men that hate spiders, myself included. I will make my wife kill them when I see them when she is around. Another thing to be careful of is if that spider is female is carrying baby spiders. Step on the female and the babies will scatter everywhere including up your leg. In AZ we have everything from Black Widows to Bark scorpions. Nasty arachnids all around. I spary a nuclear barrier of insecticide around my house to kill the little bastards...

I've never in my life checked my helmet for spiders. Thanks for another reason never to put it on.
