Default Windvest windshield

I went down on my bike back in Oct and she suffered some fairly minor damage , one of the causalities was some scrapes on my HD QD windshield. Not too bad but I've been wanting to try some thing different anyway as this one came with the bike and wasn't well treated. Found a new, open box , correct part # , clear , Windvest windshield for my Deuce on ebay. I'm pretty excited as I won it for $127 , best price I could find was $299 and they retail for $350. I'm hoping I like it's functionality , it will also give me a minimalistic look to the front of my bike. Any suggestions on how to care for it ?

It's tough as nails. I have over 50k on mine and still can't find a ding or scratch on it.
Soap and water for cleaning works just fine.

I went to their site but there was no good picture of how and where it installs. Can you use one of these with any Caralini bar's, Gangsters to be spacific? I hate wind sheilds but looking at this one I might could get used too it. If not it won't be lonely hanging on a nail in the garage with so many other parts.

There's one horizontal brace that attach's to the windshield and clamps that bolt to it. The clamps come in 1" or 1 1/4" and clamp on the bars. They offer various configurations of clamps that can mount at different angles. Your best bet may be to contact them directly so they can help set you up with the right clamp configuration .

From the WindVest site FAQ

How do I clean my WindVest?
We recommend the Novus Products for cleaning and for minor scratches. These can be purchased through WindVest. We ask that you not use an alcohol based cleaning product.

Had one on my Heritage and loved it. You could barely tell it was there, but it worked fine. Only minor problem was you can't attach windshield bag to it. I might get another for my Fatboy Lo.

+1

Over 30k on mine, it's held up beautifully. Mild soap and warm water solution to clean it, or buy the Novus stuff Windvest recommends. No abrasive chemicals or scrubbing pads though, it is plastic.

16x14" works great on my '07 Fatboy. I'm 6' and it redirects most of the blast just overhead once you find the sweet spot. For additional wind deflection underneath, an 8-10" tool bag ties onto the bracket behind the shield. It's made of GE Plexiglas. No ammonia or alcohol based cleaners, causes crazing. Use soap & water, Novus, Maquires, etc. plastic cleaners.

I have one on my Fatboy with Burly brand apes.In order to use it with the bars pushed forward I had to put a couple spacers between the windshild bracket and the mounting bracket that attaches to the bars, then I had to cut a little off the bottom of the shield.I have a nacelle without one you might get away with fewer mods to make it work.
