I had one on my old Heritage that worked great. The top of the shield was just below my eyesight. When I tried it lower, I got a lot of buffeting. Those few inches can make a huge difference.
Thanks for the reply...Just frustrated, I have had this bike 12 yrs and now I said well maybe its time,It looks good but I spent all day adjust ride repeat, all day I have searched the forums and its mixed up down forward back...done that,Guess Im just bummed, looking for someone to say do this.hahaa
It took me riding with the shield just loose enough to push and pull with one hand until I found the sweet spot. Just a very tiny variation on its placement will cause me discomfort. Try pulling it towards you rather than pushing away. Can you see the angle in this pic?
I think the mindset is that they are supposed to be inline but something with the curvature etc makes it work better (for me at least) at this angle. Good luck. I hope this helps.
Update...Just got off the phone with Doug at Windvest,We were texting and I was sending Pictures,I have a 16" adjusted all the way up,he is sending me out a 18" very happy and a big TY to Customer service with Windvest and Doug.It should take care of my problems...
