Default Battery light on intermittently

As if I haven't had enough electrical problems with my 12 Heritage since the first week. Today the battery light has been on and off intermittently. This is the first time I've seen this light on. Any suggestions? I have about 3 weeks of warranty left. I swear this bike has been back to the dealership at least a dozen times for something electrical.

Check the output from the voltage regulator. There were lots of problems with 2012's and voltage regulators. HD had a big recall, but I think it recently expired.

Battery cables must be clean and tight, if not they can cause many issues such as display, ECM issues, sensor issues etc. If cables are clean and tight, the cheapest item to try is the battery itself.

The battery is quite new maybe 6 months, the voltage reg was replaced 2 years ago under the recall.

Check the error codes. It's probably catching some. If its not a battery connection I'd be thinking regulator or stator going out. If you don't know how to read the codes, stop by Harley. They'll check it for free. If it happens to be a stator, fix it under warranty, unless you just happen to have $500 you don't need..

I ran the codes and got P0562 which is low voltage. I'll get it to HD this week as it's still under warranty. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, get it to the dealer. Mine started doing the same thing on the way to Sturgis a couple of years ago. Along with the battery light, my engine light was slow to go off to. But, it started with the the battery light like you describe. Well, I wound up stranded in the high plains west of Raton pass. It was the stator, and dang near ruined the trip.

I will also add that my wife's Low Rider was getting a battery light and generating both a high and low voltage error code. It was also cranking slow like it had a weak battery. Took it to Harley since I only had bought it a month earlier and what they found was a stripped battery connection bolt. So, like I said, check your battery connections first. It's a quick check..
