Question New clutch question...

Hey forum, have an 06 Fatboy. Went from an 88 to a 98 big bore upgrade. Heads ported and flowed, jugs, pistons, valves, cams, throttle body,etc,etc,etc...After riding it for just a while my clutch started slipping. People told me just to change out the clutch spring to a high performance one like the screamin eagle which I did. No problem. Again riding her for a while it started the slipping again but not that bad as before. My question is, is this a common thing when you upgrade? Clutch slippage? Ordered a new clutch and waiting and hoping to see if that solves the problem. Please, any and all input and advice and replies... Thanks in advance...

Does it actually slip like getting down hard on it in a too high a gear and totally rev up 2-4K without speeding up?

Upgrading the clutch after a torque increase is common. In the whole scope of things going from an 88 to 98 is not a crazy jump but none the less it is a torque increase so there fore you will need more holding power. Was the clutch pack the original 06 pack?

Your clutch cable isn't adjusted up too tight is it? You need a tiny bit of slack
In the clutch handle. The conversion should not have anything to do with the clutch. There isn't that much difference between an 88 and 96..

Very well worth the price and even so if you do the work yourself like I did. Did the S&S upgrade kit with all the goodies. New cam plate with hydraulic tensioners and oil pump. It is a kit from H.D. The cams I chose were T-Man 600. Unbelievable power from the bottom end. Hope this helps. Contact me anytime for any help...

Yes, stock clutch pack. Actuaklly didn't think the stock one was to give me any problem but it sure did...Contacted S&S and they said I should of upgraded the clutch in the first place. I would of if I known...

The clutch is not adjusted tight at all. The difference so far is I went from just having pipes and air cleaner and pcIII. Never had it on a dyno. To the 98 in. big bore upgrade with all the goodies and T-man cams and just had it dyno tuned recently and the numbers were amazing. 110h.p. and 112. torque. I can surely feel the difference anyway...
