Rot
Guide to Austin: http://www.austin360.com/
I haven’t been in years and they actually now have a new location – they were shut down in ’09 when I was at ROT, but my personal favorite BBQ in Austin was Buster’s: http://www.busterslakeway.com/
That’s saying something because Austin has some damn good BBQ joints…….a more famous place is the Salt Lick: http://www.saltlickbbq.com/
Elgin – which is east of Austin and ROT is on the east side at the fairgrounds making it easily accessible is famous for it’s BBQ as well:

I also hit a little joint on the East Side called Sam’s that is more underground in a rough neighborhood, but I wasn’t disappointed in it:

Beyond BBQ…… I would recommend hitting The Oasis at least for a beer and the view:

Although it may be a bit cliché – I personally really do like Guero’s for Texmex or whatever it is…… luv it! http://www.guerostacobar.com/
Chuy’s is another really popular place that are all over Texas now I guess – for a pretty good reason: http://www.chuys.com/
There are lots of little dives that may do it even better….. I hit Juan In A Million during my ROT trip….. it was on Man vs. Food and is pretty well known. I wasn’t personally overwhelmed, but I had a massive hangover at the time:

I personally really like the Magnolia Café for late night/breakfast:

Take a ride out to Luckenbach and grab a beer while you’re down – it makes a nice day trip and you can circle back around Salt Lick if you hit the Devil’s Backbone:

That ought to give a few things to get you started…….Austin is a really neat city. There is no shortage of cool things to do. I’ve got on my Continental Club t-shirt today in fact…….
Bring lots of beads – you’re going to need them. Buy online – you won’t regret it. The girls will take any beads, but you might order some extra nice ones for the hot chicks! LOL I bought from these people, but there may be better deals, dunno:

Have fun!

I'll be there with some friends as well. Myself I plan on heading up on Wednesday to find a place to camp out. I may just camp next to my groups club tent depending on how rowdy it is since it's right next to the parade route.
Never been to ROT so I'm a newb but being from San Antonio I'm familiar with all the great riding we have in the Hill Country.
Looking forward to it. If you happen to going down the parade route and see a tent with a banner reading Friends of James "HOPSING" Perez stop by ask for Jim say hi and have a cold one.
I'll be the one with the Jack Bottle

I pre-registered too. I just printed my "ticket" out from the ROT website though. Less than 30 days out!
Yo if interested any of you out of towners would like to meet up and shoot the chit over a cold one during the rally. The Paradise Bar has been moved over closer to the parade route, just before you enter the out of control zone ( Wet Zone ). That would be a killer spot, for a HD Forums meet and greet! We usally have a few folks over at our place on Thurday night, for a few cold ones too!
What is that? Where they can just walk up and make you blow into the machine?
