Default drag pipe baffles?

I may have custom drag pipes made. I know about the lollipop trick, I am also considering 4 inch short baffles and a new air intake.

any recommendations on the 4 inch baffles? are there brands that work better than others in retaining the power and not having it so loud?

Why do you want to put baffles in drag pipes? What are you trying to accomplish...restrict airflow, quiet down the piples, etc? As mentioned, DK Customs TTIs would probably be a better option to reduce reversion.

The DK Custom Products Thunder Torque Inserts shape, size, and coatings have been designed to optimize increasing power across the RPM band. Thunder Torque Inserts improve torque by reducing engine pumping loss, increasing exhaust gas velocity, and increasing inertial scavenging while deepening the tone of the pipes.

There are 'Q' and 'W' versions of the Thunder Torque Inserts available; the 'Q' model with baffles installed will give you less sound volume while cruising and under throttle. The 'W' model is a patented design that will give a deeper and louder sound through the RPM range, the 'W' model will also give a slightly better increase in torque over the 'Q' model.

Thunder Torque Inserts come in 3 sizes and can be used with or without baffles. You can read more about them HERE

ITs basically the look, I am putting rear set pegs from chainsikle on a sportster and need the clearance. the only pipes that are compatible are 700 bucks, I got a guy who can make me pipes so I can come up with my own design for clearance issues.

Id like to retain the performance if not improve the performance of the stock engine so I assume baffles are needed. As far as sound, I am hard of hearing I could care less. I already have vance hines on my chopper that wakes up the neighborhood.

basically I need this question answered, will I retain performance better on custom pipes with short baffles, 12 inch baffles, or the lollipop trick (dk TTI)

Cool...in some states baffles are required to pass annual safety inspection. Drag pipes that I've seen did not have baffles since the objective was LOUD pipes. You will probably get a lot of opinions so suggest you PM Kevin/Devin of DK Customs and ask them. They have tested all kinds of pipes with and without baffles and with and without TTIs. Their stuff is road proven. Good luck.

I had a thread last week asking about baffles in drag pipes as well. Only suggestions was really buying new pipes but it doesn't seem like the suggestions are here. My luck was to run TTI's but I still want some sort of baffle to run along with just so I'm covered some sort under some of the states laws and to tone the sound down a hair. I am getting ready to get small 3-4 inch baffles and see how those work out.
