I think a paint matched side cover looks nice and flows with the bike better, imo. Might want to check another decent painter for matching. Here's my Sporty with the covers and belt guard.
Dang that's sharp. If that isn't the same color of my bike it's pretty close. Mines more of a orange than the rad that shows in my picture.
2014 Mysterious sunglow red it's called.
Would love to see a closer view of that rear chrome sprocket cover.
I've seen them sold on line it sets with the belt guard. First time seeing it actually on the bike and it looks great.

Yogie - I think you need to find a new painter. My bike is Merlot Sunglow so it has a base and top coat. Sunglow has flakes in the paint so it sparkles. I use a custom graphics painter who did my bags, fairings, and front fender...all color-matched and Merlot Sunglow is a HD stock color/paint.
I also have those chrome sprocket covers and it looks like part of the sprocket i.e. not a cover...but mine is hidden beneath my bags.
On black bikes, I think black with chrome accents are nicer than blacked out bikes IMO...but it's a personal preference.
I agree. If done properly, it will actually make the blacks look darker because there is a brighter tone to compare it against. A completely blacked out bike just looks like a black... blob. It's not very exciting to look at, there's no contrast. Up close in person it probably looks pretty cool, but it doesn't photograph well and from a distance it can be hard to make out what it even is. This is why I'm adding some chrome accents in the next few weeks. I may end up doing chrome side covers myself or get my tank chrome (painted) with that hydro chrome or whatever. I have a tank bib so I'm thinking it won't blind me, that's the complaint I always hear about chromed tanks.

Lower guard is plastic I've seen some people replace it with a chrome one.

Just for you Yogie lol.
Could not take straight on pic since I have bags but these will give you an idea of what we are saying that it looks like part of the sprocket and not a cover.
