Default Ignition Timing

Why would I have to worry about checking my ignition timing every 5,000 miles?

There are no points to wear out. Shouldn't the ignition timing be good for the life of the engine?

Isn't that why there are rivets on the module cover so you won't mess with any adjustments?

I have learned in my brief ownership of a 2001 1200S that you really don't meet the nicest people on a Honda. The nicest people you meet are riding a Harley-Davidson.

Thanks for your help.

Default The rivets

Speaking of the ignition module cover, do you have to use Harley rivets or can you use any rivets to reinstall cover plate?

First -- Welcome to the forum

You are correct , it's just a H-D thing
If I bought a bike used I would check it just for self satisfaction , and if you ever come up with a problem running wise

And for fotiii ---- use screws instead of rivets
