Default S&S D carb

i just bought a 1987 XLH 883 with 5,879 miles on it. it has a S&S D carb on it. it starts right up idles fine full throttle is great but off idle is has a bad flat spot. i saw online that the S&S D is for big twin 100ci or larger engines. is there any way this could be made to work on my 883 ? thanks.

Not encouraging, here's what S&S says:

https://www.sscycle.com/products/sup...rtster-models/

Says stock bikes will exhibit your exact problem. Sell it, get a Keihin CV40 with adapter for your manifold, and be done with it. You might even pocket some money, CV40s are relatively cheap compared to S&S.
