Default Bluetooth Headset

I wear a full face helmet and would like to get a hands-free Bluetooth headset primarily so I can hear the navigation from my phone. There are several different options on the market. Just looking to get some feedback from those with Bluetooth headset experience.

Mrs B and I have Schuberth helmets with their own-brand built-in blue-tooth, which they developed with help from Scala. Works fine and we also use it when riding on separate bikes as an intercom. So look up Scala.

Big fan of the Sena product. I have a SMH5 and love it. I have heard the 10s and 20s have better audio quality however - with the sound I get from the 5 - I have not been compelled to upgrade.

I use Sena SMH-10 Bluetooth Headset in a Shoei J-Cruise helmet. Bought it to listen to music and answer my phone while riding. Have not used the intercom.

I use a Scala headset but check which are compatible with your phone. Depending on the age and model it may not be compatible with all headsets. Same with SatNavs and headsets.

i had the Sena 20s on my previous modular. Now I just bought the exact same helmet with a sena already installed.

I never did any helmet to helmet coms, but it handled just about anything you throw at it with the phone.

I bought the Sena SMH5 recently mostly for music and also to know when the wife is trying to reach me on the phone. Speaker quality is ok but could be better. Phone quality was quite impressive. My wife said she could hear the bike when I was accelerating but when I got to cruising speed, she couldn't hear it any more. If cost is an issue, the SMH5 is good value. If you can spend some more, then go for at least the 10.

+1 for SMH-10. I was on a 3600 mile trip last year and ended up having to take 2 separate work calls while riding. Both callers were shocked when I told them I was cruising the interstate at 80. Music isn't as good as calling in my opinion, but it's tolerable.

I put Sena 10U units in my and my OL's Schuberth 3C Pro helmets. Same speakers as their 20 model. Totally surprised at the sound quality even with fairly loud exhaust. Don't even know the thing is in there. Hidden except for a little mic piece. Only for certain model helmets though. Have handle bar remote and the wrist remote that handles everything. Music, FM radio and intercom work great.
